Bei meiner selbst entworfenen LCD-Platine verwende ich einen 3E3 - Widerstand, auch 4E7 ist noch sehr brauchbar und die Helligkeit überzeugend bei keinerlei Erwärmung des Displays...
sende ein pdf mit Schaltung und Bestückungsplan mit...
die Platine ist sowohl für meinen MiniTRX als auch für die OVI40-Version ausgelegt...

'hab hier einen 4-Zöller gefunden und mal 2 Stück zum Experimentieren bestellt...'
Diese 4"- LCDs funktionieren einwandfrei, die haben halt 0.8mm Raster. Ich hab eins davon mit Fädeldraht direkt verdrahtet auf meiner Minimal-Testplatine. Zu sehen an einem R820-Minimalempfänger (rechts davon), hier Empfang von Pocsag auf 466,230 Mhz.

Schaut ja riesig aus...
bin noch auf der Suche nach einer 39-poligen SMD-Buchsenleiste für das Flex-Kabel, dann würde ich die LCD-Platine erweitern..
sende auch noch die Bestückungsansicht der 3,5" LCD-Platine mit...

Hi Helmut,
I'm afraid you will not find this kind of connector, your flex cable looks like provided for soldering only.

The connector in Helmut's PCB picture above looks pretty much the same like the one Andreas is using on his PCB LCD kits. Or do i mix up something here?
I have another tiny problem. As i wrote with the above picture the 3.5 display kit is running fine now and i changed the resistor R105 on Andreas' ready soldered display to 2R2 as well.
Both displays run fine without any issues in the I40 ver. 1.7 UI
I have another ver 1.6 PCB of the I40 UI were i removed the 3.2 LCD (all on connectors) and put the 3.5 on.
After powering up the LCD stays white  The board boots normally as the LEDs indicate.
That happened with both LCDs so the ready soldered still with IC103 on the PCB and the newer one without IC103.
Bootloader and Firmware are the latest.
Putting back the 3.2 LCD everything works fine again.
Does the larger PCB needs a new calibration in the ver. 1.6 UI or what may cause the white screen ?
the 1.7 UI accepts both LCDs no matter what size and without doing anything.

Helmut asked about the lcd mentioned in reply #60.
Regarding the 1.6 to 1.7 difference - sorry, I don't know. I have 1.8. Firmware has lcd autodetection, and for some reason your board do not use the parallel lcd interface. You have to compare the 1.6 schematics to 1.7 and find the difference on lcd connector.

But would'nt a damage have an impact on the 3.2" display as well ?
If i change that one back to the 1.6 board everything is fine. So i assume that there is no severe damage on the 1.6 UI.
Is the 3.2" also operated in parallel mode like the 3.5 ??
I will do some further tests and let you know....

Hi Andreas,
it is not entirely true: If you connect an SPI display properly, it works also on the OVI40 STM32F7xx boards and may work on the OVI40 STM32H7xx boards with reduced performance. The "official" display adapter for the 4.3 display never supported SPI, but the "old" 3.2 display with SPI should work (haven't tested in a while but when I ported the UHSDR I tested it and it worked.

OK, got it ! I saw the connector on the Ali page (Reply #60). Maybe that fits on Andreas' LCD PCB, cause there is also a pad connector for that spacing on it ?! If thats the case we maybe can "pimp" the LCD to 4.0" ?!
A short feedback from the LCD experience with my ver. 1.6 I40.
I double checked all connections and connectors an realigned them with no luck. Screen still white while the 3.2 inch works fine.
Desperately i downgraded the firmware to 2.11.3 and also resoldered the display connector.
And Tadaaa after a reboot with the 3.5 inch LCD it came up and is working fine now. Screen calibration worked errorfree, so all fine now.
I have no clue if this was a connector issue or if the firmware had a "hickup". The 3.5" woks fine in the other ver 1.7 I40 board. I will upgrade the now running ver1.6 now to the latest and greatest and recheck.
In the meantime i have another problem with the AF on this board, that the AF level slowly vanishes until complete silence. 
I need to check if i have a power problem here at the AF amplifier. This has worked before without any problem.
So the golden rule: "never touch a running system" is still valid here. 
I'll keep you posted.

Hi Peter,
I placed the solderable pads on OVI40 LCD PCB for clone of Raspberry pi LCD which has this kind of solderable ribbon flat cable. It might be that other lcds have exactly the same pinout, it needs checking. Anyone can find the pinout of this solderable LCD in my schematics, it's name is J105 and description LCD3.5_Rpi.
