Nice project, part of it has origin in UHSDR code:

https://github.com/XGudron/UA3REO-DDC-Transceiver/blob/1cc89deaa52507c59823ef10f65e67934c458b7f/STM32/Src/noise_blanker.c#L3 (https://github.com/XGudron/UA3REO-DDC-Transceiver/blob/1cc89deaa52507c59823ef10f65e67934c458b7f/STM32/Src/noise_blanker.c#L3)

Some facts to consider after local discussion about this project:
- uses Keil mixed with CubeMX code (can't build with free Keil available - cracked version or one month trial is required)
- uses IP cores from Intel which are not free, requires full license to build (Quartus version from Torrents with crack)

Hi Josef,
yes I know that there are plenty of copiers here and there, just wanted to show the result of some discussion and discoveries here about Wolf.
Where is my trx? Here in Poland on three desks, the rest is somewhere between China and Poland. And... I'm happy with that - it's a hobby not business for me ;)

Hey Slawek,

Nice project, :)

are you using the new version 2.60 and the RF Big Unit rev.3 with the PA board from DB5AT?
If my time allows me and the Tulipan project is finished,
I will also rebuild the Wolf-TRX.

No, there's no secrects - just lack of time...
Regarding SParkle - all things related to this transceiver we decided to place in separate folder on main page of this forum.

Hallo Norbert,

hier (https://www.amateurfunk-sulingen.de/forum/index.php?board=29)

Good afternoon

I am missing soldering action and with some parts already on my desk I think I might try to build Wolf. I have seen the github page but got lost in so many PCB variants. Since 95% of discussion here is in German (and being tired of using Google translate) I kindly ask for some feedback:

- I am looking for a 7 inch version (I love big screens), but I only need low power (QRP). So big screen but for the rest still trying to keep it small. Which PCBs should I order (the latest revisions please)? Where I can find their associated BOMs? Maybe someone still have some surplus PCBs to sell?
- If possible I would love to see some photos of QRP version with 7 inch LCD.
- Is firmware for free?
- Did anyone tested 432 MHz (70cm) RX performance (I might use it for QO-100 satellite)?

Thank you in advance.

Hi Janez,

So if you need help, you will get it here too.
Let's get started:
For the 7 inch variant you need this file to flash the STM32:
WOLF-RA8875_GT911.bin (https://www.dropbox.com/sh/jrs38c2iwtxk6c1/AADghDFrFPbCgBWvzVH2saLya/STM32/6.3.1/WOLF-ILI9486.bin?dl=0)

(Provided you use this display.)

In the software you can choose which RF board you use. e.g.
QRP-Version RU4PN (https://github.com/XGudron/UA3REO-DDC-Transceiver/blob/master/Schematic/Wolf/Gerbers/RF-UNIT-QRP-RU4PN-rev3.zip) oder
QRP-Version (https://github.com/XGudron/UA3REO-DDC-Transceiver/blob/master/Schematic/Wolf/Gerbers/RF-UNIT-QRP-rev22.zip)

All these files are free to use in the sense of the open source idea.

Concerning the 70cm version I can't give you any information, because I don't use this range with the WOLF-TRX.!!

In the forum are under the category Wolf are the topics RF unit, display, motherboard and housing to find with many photos.
You should actually find what you are looking for.

And remember: you never walk all alone --> Ham-Spirt ;D

Post by: S58J on 15. November 2022, 14:47:46

Hi Norbert

Thank you for the quick reply. So let me start with the PCBs. The one Adam just published (Front unit) - I can't find it on Github. I assume it is just a more compact version of what I can see on the Github (rev 5), right? So I guess contacting Adam (if still has one PCB left) would be a good move?

You directed me to two QRP RF boards. I see two different approaches (the latest to include ATU as well) but performance wise I don't know their differences. Let me put it simply: which one shows best results and/or has less issues with IC shortages?

The motherboard: I see a new one (rev33). I guess that is the one to go?

The very last question: if I take Adam's Front unit PCB would the motherboard (rev33) and RF board stack nicely and being installed in a smaller more compact case?

Thank you again!

Janez, S58J

Title: Re:new sdr duc-ddc
Post by: DC4YN on 15. November 2022, 15:12:33

Hi Janez

The difference between the RF boards is that the RU4PN has a tuner on the board and uses different RF transistors RD01....

Regarding the front unit:
in the Github only the tested and released boards are listed.

Regarding Adams front unit, I have no documentation and I don't know the front unit. Therefore, I can not make any statements about the housing. Unfortunately.

But write to Adam. He will surely provide you with the necessary files.

The motherboard version is correct and the newest V33.

so sollte es klappen. ;)

Title: Parts
Post by: S58J on 17. November 2022, 08:35:56

Hi

I know that I am rather late to the party and that my question is overly optimistic, but still: is someone having a surplus and willing to sell the LTC2208CUP and DAC5674IPHP at more reasonable price than what Mouser's, Digikey's and LCSC offer?

Also an information about a possible alternative (but reliable) supplier would be nice as well.

We can also trade. I have: STM32H753ZIT6, AD9866BCPZ, STM32F429VIT6,... all new!

Better asking than being sorry for missing a train, hi.

Kind regards

On the same topic I kindly ask for your further support. Bellow there is a list of ICs for which I need more information or better a part number (Mouser, Digikey, LCSC, ...) that you have used in your functioning Wolf. All listed chips are available but in many variants and I don't know which is the right one:

LTC6400 - which Voltage Gain: 8, 12, 14, 16, 20, 26 dB?
W25Q16 - so many, which one to use?
LD3985 - which output voltage?
25P80 - so many, part number please?

Thank you in advance

Janez, S58J

P.S.
LTC2208CUP price is still hunting me - just insane.

Hi Michael

I really appreciate your reply - thank you! I am already chasing parts. Regardless that LTC2208 and DAC are both available (but veryyyyy expensive) I am still trying to find another supplier. It is a game of an everyday checking among the different suppliers.

If I may I have a couple more questions:

- What is the difference between the two 7-inch LCD Front units (the rev5 as on Github and the RA9UCN's version)? Is the RA9UCN's version the same as rev5 just more compact (smaller)?

- I am still struggling to find some more detailed photos (especially the compact QRP version) to find if for example I can stack the 7-inch RA9UCN's Front plate together with the latest rev33 motherboard and the latest RU4PN QRP RF board (the one with ATU). I am talking about physical stacking of the three PCBs in order to get the slimmest possible profile, not just connecting cables.

- The parts: I have some bitter/sweet experience with AliExpress provided parts hence I am not using this option. As stated, I am checking on a daily basis for the parts availability the next providers: Mouser, Digikey and LCSC. Are there others worth checking as well?

Thank you in advance. Kind regards.

Yes the displays are the same only the PCB for the front is much more compact. The buttons are mounted on the bottom side of the
of the housing

I only use the "big wolf" and therefore can not contribute any data or pictures.

An alternative would be TME (https://www.tme.eu/de/)
