Title: FreeDV
Post by: Co on 12. December 2017, 15:23:09

Sofar I have not been able to decode FreeDV signals. Signals seem to come in strong enough at S9 or S9++, but activating FreeDV results in complete silence sometimes interrupted by a 'plopping' sound. What am I missing here. I am using FW 2.7.42.

regards

Co

Hi Co,

my last freedv QSO is some months ago so I tested locally using OVI40 for TX and mcHF for RX. It works out-of-the box. No problem in decoding (swapping RX and TX between two rigs works also). So it must be a setting issue.

Do you use correct sideband?
Are transmissions in correct freedv-mode (there are existing different?)

Hello Andreas,

Only one setting involved. Tried both LSB and USB but no luck. I know there is some military traffic usually data links on 80 but easy to recognize. Was just curious . :)

Hi Co,

in firmware you can nothing change than sideband. Firmware supports only freedv 1600. There are some other modes that definitely never will run on mcHF (STM32F4) but possibly on OVI40 (STM32F7).

Half a year ago there was a daily Dutch freedv meeting on 80m ~3.732 +/- @16:30 UTC but I do not know if it is living up to now...
