Title: mcHF - full featured firmware - MCU512KB
Post by: DF8OE on 31. January 2018, 08:44:50
In Yahoo NG there is a statement from an Apple user that he can build binaries for mcHF full featured which fit without problems to small MCU.
That is correct - but not related to "Apple". It is a result of the use of an outdated compiler (gcc4.9) which builds very small binaries - but is not able to build F7 or H7 binaries. So it is impossible for us to work with this compiler.
But, hey: it is an Open Source project! Our "offcial build binareis" will continue as this is announced. And when someone wants to build his own binaries using gcc4.9 and wants to publish these binaries: that is welcome - he can do it!

I am building with
gcc-arm-none-eabi-6-2017-q2-update
Normally I would use the latest one (q4). But this produces binaries without errors but they are not able to run (system Linux Debian). Until now no idea where can be the issue.
We are intended to use newest compilers - because it must get best results for H7...
