Power output down, red (TX) light flashing
« on: 24. September 2019, 06:45:53 »

Hi

Together with Marko, S54AM we are struggling to identify the erratic behaviour of his mcHF. They appeared suddenly after years of normal use, after latest FW upgrade.

The simptoms:
Power ON procedure - OK
Receiver - OK
Transmit - OK (with nominal power) for a couple of seconds than power goes down and RED (TX) LED is flashing maybe another 2 seconds after end of TX.

When restarting (Power OFF / ON) the simptoms start to repeat as listed above.

Any idea?

Kind regards

Janez, maybe a starting point:
Look in the menu "Debug/ Exper. Settings" under "VSWR Protect.threshold". You can set this to "Off" if there is a SWR limit set.

Hi Thomas

Thanks for your proposal. Before doing that I have to tell you that the same thing happens with dummy load (SWR 1:1.0) connected.

Kind regards

SWR detection is very poor. Additionally there is no way to match an outdoor antenna if output power is reduced at bad SWR. I do not see any sense in powering down at bad SWR so I never activated this setting. I am nearly sure you should do it, too.

Thank you Thomas, thank you Andreas.

Your proposal solved the problem! We can close this thread.

Marko, S54AM also send you both a big thank you.

Kind regards
